Eurostar Business Premier vs Standard Premier for work

Business Premier and Standard Premier are now called Eurostar Premier and Eurostar Plus. Here is how they compare for work on flexibility, lounges, meals and check-in.

Eurostar renamed its classes on routes to and from London. Business Premier is now Eurostar Premier, and Standard Premier is now Eurostar Plus. Standard is still called Standard.

For a work trip to Paris, Brussels or Amsterdam, the choice usually comes down to two things: how likely your plans are to change, and how close to departure you want to arrive at St Pancras. All facts below come from Eurostar's own pages.

London St Pancras to Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam and more

Premier is the only class you can change or refund free of charge up to 48 hours after your original departure. On the day, the boarding guarantee lets you take another available train at no extra cost through the app. Gates close just 15 minutes before departure at St Pancras, against 30 minutes in other classes, and you can use Premier lounges in London, Paris and Brussels.

  • Free changes and refunds until 48 hours after departure
  • Gate closes 15 minutes before departure
  • Lounges in London, Paris and Brussels
  • Chef-designed meal and drinks at your seat

Watch out: It costs several times more than Plus. On the boarding guarantee, your seat, class and catering are not guaranteed.

Eurostar Plus (formerly Standard Premier)

London St Pancras to Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam and more

  • More spacious seat
  • Meal and drinks at your seat on London routes
  • Free changes until one hour before departure

Watch out: No lounge access, and you still need to arrive about 75 minutes before departure at St Pancras.

3 · Best for tight budgets

Eurostar Standard

London St Pancras to Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam and more

Standard has the same free change rule as Plus, up to one hour before departure, and the same free onboard Wi-Fi. Food and drink is bought on board. It works well for a short day trip where you can eat before you go.

  • Lowest fares
  • Free changes until one hour before departure
  • Free Wi-Fi

Watch out: No meal included, and a smaller seat than Plus or Premier.

Which should you book?

Book Premier if your return time depends on how a meeting goes, or if you are travelling at short notice and want the shortest check-in. The free change and refund until 48 hours after departure takes the risk out of an uncertain diary.

Book Plus if your times are fixed. You still get a good seat and a meal on London routes, for a fraction of the Premier fare. Arrive early enough for the 30-minute gate closure.

The Premier lounge at St Pancras

The London lounge is inside the departure area, to the right next to the information desk. You can use it up to two hours before your train. It has quiet zones and booths, free Wi-Fi and snacks and drinks through the day. Weekday opening hours are 04:40 to 19:55.

Picking a seat to work in

Plus and Premier use the same wider 2+1 seats, so the class you book matters less than the seat. Seat61 notes these points, checked 27 Oct 2026:

  • Every seat in every class has a power socket and USB port. Sockets alternate between UK 3-pin and European 2-pin, so pack an adapter.
  • Wi-Fi is free in all classes on the e320 and e300 trains.
  • On e300 trains, seats 61 and 65 in cars 7, 8, 11 and 12 are solo seats facing backwards.
  • There is no designated quiet coach.
  • Eurostar can swap an e320 for an e300 without notice, which removes chosen seats, so check the booking again a few days before.
  • For a tight onward connection, sit at the front: cars 16 or 18 into Paris, cars 1 or 2 into London.

Invoices, VAT and company accounts

Eurostar says your ticket is your invoice and is accepted as accounting evidence by European tax authorities. To print a receipt, sign in to the Eurostar account that made the booking and open the payment history. If you booked through a travel agent or TMC, ask them instead.

The VAT rate on high-speed train travel in the UK or France is 0%, so a London to Paris ticket has no VAT to reclaim. Eurostar lists 6% for Belgium, 9% for the Netherlands and 7% for Germany.

Eurostar for Business is a free online account for companies. You can book for colleagues or let them book themselves, add several administrators and see spend in one place. Every 15 return journeys earns a free upgrade or ticket. Once the business spends £50,000 or more in 12 months, that is replaced by a corporate discount on Plus and Premier. Travellers keep earning Club Eurostar points for their own use.

Questions people ask

What is the difference between Eurostar Business Premier and Standard Premier?

They are now called Eurostar Premier and Eurostar Plus. Premier adds lounge access, a later 15-minute gate closure, free changes and refunds until 48 hours after departure, and a chef-designed meal. Plus has a roomier seat and a lighter meal on London routes.

Does Eurostar Plus include lounge access?

No. Eurostar lists lounge access as a Premier benefit. Carte Blanche and Etoile Club Eurostar members can also use the lounges in any class.

How early do I need to arrive for Eurostar Premier?

At St Pancras, Eurostar recommends arriving 45 minutes before departure in Premier. The gate closes 15 minutes before departure.

Can I change a Eurostar Premier ticket?

Yes, free of charge until 48 hours after your original departure time, as long as the destination stays the same. You pay any fare difference.

Is there Wi-Fi on Eurostar?

Yes. Eurostar says Wi-Fi is free on board in all three classes.

Is Eurostar Premier worth it?

For a fixed-time trip, usually not: Plus gives you the same seat and a meal. Premier earns its price when plans may change, because it can be changed or refunded free until 48 hours after departure, and it adds the lounge and a later gate closure. Seat61 lists Premier at a fixed £325 one-way London to Paris or Brussels, against Plus from £98, checked 27 Oct 2026.

Can I get a VAT invoice for a Eurostar ticket?

Eurostar says the ticket itself is the invoice, and you can print a receipt from the payment history in your Eurostar account. High-speed rail in the UK and France is charged at 0% VAT, so there is usually no VAT to reclaim on London to Paris.
