Best business class from London to Dubai

Emirates, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic fly nonstop from London to Dubai. How their business class compares for work, plus a one-stop option.

Dubai is a short overnight or long day flight from London, so the right cabin depends on whether you need to sleep or work. Emirates has by far the most flights, from Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted. British Airways flies from Heathrow only, and Virgin Atlantic flies a seasonal Heathrow service in the winter.

Fares change daily and by season, so we have not printed prices. Check live fares on the airline's own site.

1 · Best overall

Emirates A380 business class

Heathrow Terminal 3 to Dubai (DXB)

Emirates flies seven times a day from Heathrow, mostly on the A380, so you can usually find a time that fits your diary. A380 business class has a lie-flat seat, an 18-inch screen and the onboard bar where you can stretch your legs. Emirates is fitting Starlink Wi-Fi, which it says will be free for every passenger, and A380 retrofits were due to start in 2026. Until your aircraft has it, unlimited Wi-Fi is free for Skywards members in business.

  • Seven daily Heathrow flights
  • Onboard bar on the A380
  • Free Wi-Fi for Skywards members

Watch out: The A380 seat is older than Emirates' newest cabins and has no door.

2 · Best from Gatwick

Emirates A350 business class from Gatwick

Gatwick to Dubai (DXB), flight EK070

Since February 2026, Emirates' fourth daily Gatwick flight uses its new A350, with business class in a 1-2-1 layout so every seat has aisle access. EK070 leaves Gatwick at 23:55 and lands in Dubai at 11:00, which suits a late finish in London and a full afternoon in Dubai. It is handy if you live or work south of London.

  • Newest Emirates aircraft on a London route
  • Every seat has aisle access
  • Late evening departure

Watch out: The A350 business seat has no closing door, and only one of the Gatwick flights uses this aircraft.

3 · Best for privacy

British Airways Club Suite

Heathrow (mainly Terminal 5) to Dubai (DXB)

BA flies up to three times a day from Heathrow on the Boeing 777 and 787. When you get Club Suite, you have a privacy door, direct aisle access and a lie-flat bed, which is useful for sleeping on the overnight flight home. BA began fitting free Starlink Wi-Fi in 2026.

  • Privacy door on Club Suite
  • Up to three daily flights
  • BA Club lounges at Terminal 5

Watch out: Not every BA aircraft on this route has Club Suite, so some flights still use the older Club World seat. Check the seat map.

4 · Best Heathrow lounge

Virgin Atlantic Upper Class

Heathrow Terminal 3 to Dubai (DXB), October to March

Virgin's once-daily Dubai flight runs seasonally from October to March on the Boeing 787-9. Upper Class includes the Upper Class Wing private security channel and the Clubhouse lounge at Heathrow. The herringbone seats have direct aisle access and convert to a flat bed of up to 6ft 7in.

  • Upper Class Wing and Clubhouse
  • Direct aisle access
  • Onboard bar

Watch out: It only runs in winter, and the seat is older, with a refit not expected until 2028.

5 · Best one-stop alternative

Qatar Airways Qsuite via Doha

Heathrow Terminal 4 to Dubai via Doha

If nonstop fares are high, Qatar's Qsuite via Doha is worth a look. Qsuite has a closing door, and Qatar says it has finished fitting free Starlink Wi-Fi on all its Boeing 777s and A350s. You log in with a free Privilege Club account to use it.

  • Closing door on Qsuite
  • Free Starlink on the 777 and A350
  • Useful backup when nonstop flights are full

Watch out: The stop in Doha adds hours, and Qatar's A380s do not have Qsuite.

Which London airport?

Emirates flies from Heathrow Terminal 3, Gatwick and Stansted. British Airways flies from Heathrow, mainly Terminal 5. Virgin Atlantic flies from Heathrow Terminal 3. Qatar Airways uses Heathrow Terminal 4.

Sleep or work?

Some London to Dubai flights run overnight, such as Emirates EK070 from Gatwick at 23:55. On those, a flat bed matters more than Wi-Fi. On a daytime flight you can get a good few hours of work done, so check whether your aircraft has free Wi-Fi.

If your meetings are in Abu Dhabi, Etihad flies nonstop from Heathrow and Manchester to Abu Dhabi instead.

Costs beyond the fare

The UAE is in Air Passenger Duty band B. For flights from 1 April 2026, a business class passenger leaving a UK airport pays £244 in duty, against £102 in economy. It rises to £251.95 from 1 April 2027.

There is no UK VAT to reclaim on the ticket. HMRC's VAT Notice 744A zero-rates scheduled flights.

Entry rules for a work trip

Competitor pages rarely cover the paperwork. This is what the FCDO says for British citizens, checked 27 Oct 2026.

  • Visa: a visitor visa is issued free on arrival and is valid for up to 90 days in a 180-day period.
  • Passport: it must be valid for at least 6 months after the date you arrive.
  • Working: the FCDO says working on a visit visa without a work permit can lead to a fine, prison or deportation. Check with the UAE Embassy what the trip involves before booking.
  • Medicines: controlled medicines need approval from the UAE Ministry of Health before travel. Apply online and allow up to 5 working days. Visitors can bring up to a 3-month supply, or 1 month for medicines on the approval list.
