The converters above come from UK supplier feeds with live prices, and include gas-spring risers, motorised units and mobile stands.

Sit-stand workstations transform your sedentary desk into a dynamic sit-stand workstation. Sit-stand desk converter with gas spring height adjustment. Spacious top platform holds two monitors or a laptop, the bottom platform fits a keyboard and mouse.
Under the DSE Regulations Schedule, the keyboard must be separate from the screen and tiltable, with enough space in front of it to support the hands and arms. A converter with a separate keyboard tray makes it easier to keep the keyboard just below elbow height, as HSE's posture guidance recommends, while the screen stays higher.

Whether it takes a monitor arm or has a VESA mount for screens
Fitting a converter to an existing desk
Measure the desk before you order. A converter needs space behind it to move, and a heavy unit on a light desk can make the whole set-up less stable. If you plan to clamp a monitor arm to the converter or desk, check the desk edge and material can take a clamp.
The DSE Regulations also require a work surface large enough for a flexible arrangement of screen, keyboard and documents. A converter that takes most of the desk can leave too little room for paperwork.
Buying for a team
Converters are a quick win for staff who ask to stand, but each new set-up still counts as a change to the workstation. HSE says a fresh assessment is needed when a workstation changes, and users should be trained to use their equipment.

Questions people ask
What is the best standing desk converters in the UK?
On our shortlist, the Neomounts DS90-325BL1 Sit-stand workstation desk 17-32" - gas spring is the best overall pick at £171.99 from Back to the Office. For a tighter budget, the Leitz Ergo Cosy Standing Desk Converter with sliding tray (£200.99) is our best-value choice.
How much should I pay for standing desk converters?
Most of the 41 UK listings we screened sit between £147 and £260, with a middle price of £208. Trade suppliers often show prices before VAT, so add 20% if you can't reclaim it.
Can a business reclaim VAT on standing desk converters?
A VAT-registered business can usually reclaim the VAT on equipment bought for business use, as long as it holds a valid VAT invoice from the supplier. Ask the seller for one at checkout.
Where can I buy standing desk converters for a business?
The picks here come from Back to the Office, UK Office Direct Limited. Most UK trade suppliers offer next-day delivery and VAT invoices; some offer credit accounts for regular orders.
Is a desk converter as good as a sit-stand desk?
It can give the same sit-stand option for less money, but it takes up desk space and has a lower load limit than most full desks. It suits single-screen or light dual-screen set-ups best.
Will a converter work with two monitors?
Some will. Check the rated load and top width against the combined weight and width of both screens and any arms.
Do I need a new assessment after adding a converter?
HSE says a new workstation assessment is needed when a change is made to an existing workstation or the way it is used.
Can a converter go on any desk?
Not always. Check the desk depth, the space behind it and whether the desk is sturdy enough for the converter and screens.
